Info on RP-SMA and SMA connectors

The RP-SMA connector is externally similar to the SMA connector. This often leads to confusion.
The RP-SMA connector (1) (also called reverse SMA) has a small metal tube as the inner conductor, whereas the RP-SMA socket (2) has the pin as the inner conductor (see illustration on the left).
Reverse SMA connectors are used for antenna connections on WLAN devices, GPS antennas or in the automotive sector. For technical data see SMA connector.
