Ring cable lugs (also called crimp cable lug ring shape) are used for example for grounding cables or in the field of car hifi. Ring cable lugs enable a clamp contact on electrically conductive components, especially by gripping a screw which is connected to an electrically conductive component and by screwing it in, clamp contacting the cable lug or lugs.

Ring cable lugs are available for various bolt or screw diameters and as uninsulated or insulated versions. An overview of the diameters and the corresponding color of the insulation can be found here:

Ring cable lugs are crimped on with special crimping or pressing pliers. For this purpose, the cable to be equipped with a ring cable lug is stripped according to the length specified by the manufacturer. Then the cable lug that matches the conductor cross-section is placed on the stripped end piece and shaped with the crimping pliers or a press with an appropriate die. The deformation creates a secure connection between the stranded cable and the ring cable lug. In order to have a quality control, some crimping pliers leave a marking in the cable lug. The crimping pliers have an engraving in the die for this purpose.
