Cable lug
Cable lugs are used for simple electrical contacting of conductors of cables or individual lines (stranded lines/stranded cables) by screwing or plugging.
If conductors are to be fixed in terminals, wire end ferrules are more necessary.
Cable lugs in eyelet or fork form enable contacting with a screw on electrically conductive components. The screw must be connected to the component. One or more cable lugs can be screwed together.
Different types of cable lugs:
- Flat cable lugs
- Fork cable lugs
- Ring cable lugs
- Tubular cable lugs
...
Essentially, a distinction is made between different types of cable lugs:
- Crimp cable lugs
- crimp cable lugs
The installation of cable lugs takes place in several steps. First, the cable / wire that is to be fitted with a cable lug is stripped at the cable end. The stripping length must be taken from the specification of the cable lug. After stripping, the cable lug is placed on the stripped end section. The cable lugs, whether crimp or press cable lugs, are crimped or pressed using a special crimping tool or a press with an appropriate insert. In this way, a secure electrical connection is made between the cable and the cable lug.
